History

Among the many exclusive jewellery retailers and department stores around the world KJD has an international reputation for manufacturing the finest Cloisonné hand-enamelled cufflinks. From New York to Tokyo, London to Melbourne, our cufflinks can be seen in the most fashionable shops.

KJD Jewellers is a family-run firm, situated in the heart of Birmingham’s world-famous Jewellery Quarter, and is unique in that all stages of production lie within our factory; from conception of design by our in-house designers, to stamping, casting, enamelling, polishing, and packaging. This means we have total control of quality throughout production and can ensure that we produce cufflinks and accessories of our utmost quality. These core values have gained us our worldwide reputation for excellence.

The centre of our operations are the enamelling workshops. Our enamellers, drawing on nearly 50 years of experience, still take great personal pride in producing fine enamelware. All KJD cufflinks and dress studs are made entirely by hand and once you and once you have seen and handled them, this will become evident. At the beginning of the 21st century, cufflinks continue to be popular gifts for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries and for those special occasions – for the Best Man, for a retirement or congratulatory gifts.

At the beginning of 2004, KJD Jewellers joined forces with the long established family-controlled and managed business of Toye, Kenning & Spencer. Toye, a royal warrant holder, is also a firm based in the Midlands with factories in Birmingham and Bedworth. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1685, having fled France as Huguenots following the edict of Nantes in the same year, it today enjoys a worldwide reputation for manufacturing in the United Kingdom and as one of the oldest family owned businesses, and has an extraordinarily diverse range of products, from headdress to military accoutrements.
